Aspö, 646 96 Stjärnhov
Aspö is an island in lake Båven, at Stjärnhov in Flen municipality, in the Swedish region of Södermanland. About an hour and a half south of Stockholm. You reach it across a bridge, and the road runs all the way to the houses. The remoteness is deliberate.

The place
The venue lies on Aspö in lake Båven, the third largest lake in Södermanland, with over 500 kilometres of shoreline and 48 metres at its deepest point. The forest next to it is a nature reserve.
The house was built in 1969 and has 52 rooms. All surfaces and bathrooms were renovated in 2015 and 2016. Several of the rooms have their own names here: the course hall, the participants' kitchen, the reception and the disco.
By car
The venue lies just outside Stjärnhov. The last stretch is the same whichever way you come: at the sign for Aspö, turn onto the gravel road, follow it for about 2.4 kilometres and take the second turning on the right. That road leads all the way there.
From the E4 at Södertälje, take exit 141 at Järna onto road 57 towards Katrineholm and Gnesta. Follow road 57 past Gnesta and through the centre of Stjärnhov. A few minutes past the centre there is a sharp right-hand bend, and shortly after it the sign for Aspö on the left.
There is parking at the venue. You can arrive from four in the afternoon on your arrival day, when check-in opens.
By train and bus
To reach Stjärnhov, take bus 589 from Gnesta. Gnesta has direct SJ trains from Stockholm Central, and commuter trains via Södertälje Hamn.
Stjärnhov is the last stop. Let us know once you have booked and we will sort out the final stretch.
Accessibility
The rooms and the smaller dining room are on the entrance level, and every room has its own bathroom. The larger dining room and the kitchen are one floor down, and you can also reach them outdoors, around the house. There is a folding ramp for the entrance steps.
More than that we cannot promise here. If stairs, distances or thresholds are difficult for you, call us before you register and we will go through the house with you. We would rather tell you how it is than have you find out on arrival.
The place has its own site
Aspö kursgård is not ours; we hold courses there. The rooms, the food, the house and the lake are described on the venue's own site, with photographs.
What matters here is that the remoteness is part of the course. The rest is over there.
Why is it so far out?
A week about stopping works less well with a motorway outside the window. The remoteness is part of the course, not a price you pay for it.
When we looked for a venue we had a list: a course hall big enough for the whole group to move and dance in, rooms for the smaller groups, and the possibility of having the place to ourselves. Several venues were ruled out because other guests were staying there at the same time, or because the whole place could not be booked. The remoteness is not a side effect. It was the requirement.
